Assessment of Children and Adolescents
To fully understand your child’s needs, history, family situation, and the supports you have, I conduct a thorough assessment. This usually involves a few important steps:

-
An initial session where I meet with you and your child together so everyone has the opportunity to get to know each other.
-
A one-on-one session with your child, where I can hear their perspective. This might include talking, filling out some questionnaires, drawing, or doing other fun and creative activities to help your child express themselves.
-
A session just with the parents or carers to discuss your observations, concerns, and goals.
-
When needed, I may also contact your child’s kindergarten or school, and any other health professionals involved in their care, to gather more information.
I understand every family is different, so I’m happy to talk with you about this process and make any adjustments needed to best suit your family’s needs.
Please remember to bring any reports from previous assessments your child has had, such as those from a paediatrician, psychiatrist, speech pathologist, or occupational therapist. These can help me get a clearer picture to provide the best support.
